Pool Patios: Is It Time for Replacement?

Having a swimming pool in your backyard can be a wonderful addition to your home. Whether you use it for leisure or for throwing pool parties all summer long, knowing your pool is in good condition is important for your usage and enjoyment.

As a pool owner, one thing to remember is that pool patios require some maintenance and care, but eventually, they need to be replaced. How do you determine if it’s time to replace your pool patio? There are three indicators:

  • Pool Patio Age – Pool patios that are more than ten years old should be considered for replacement. Even if your aging pool patio is still in good condition, the last thing you want is to suddenly find that it is in major disrepair. Preparing for a replacement ahead of time could save you money on repairs. Additionally, as pool patio materials improve, you could see added benefits with an upgrade.
  • Wear & Tear – Pool patios that have experienced heavy usage will need to be replaced. Whether the concrete is cracking or bulging or you’ve noticed the edges of the patio settling due to being in the elements, scheduling replacement sooner rather than later is a good choice.
  • Landscaping Upgrade – Another great reason to update pool patios is when you have a planned landscaping upgrade. Maybe you’re installing an outdoor living area and want to integrate it with your pool, or perhaps you’re adding new outdoor plants and want them to enhance your existing pool area. Replacing your pool patio as part of a landscaping project is a great way to go!
